After Chael Sonnen tested high for performance enhancing substances (high levels of testosterone), the winner of Belfort vs Okami will take Anderson Silva for the UFC middleweight championship of the world.

"The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Monday confirmed its plans to return to Germany on Nov. 13 with UFC 122 at the König-Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen.

The main event features Vitor Belfort facing Yushin Okami in a middleweight showdown to determine who will challenge for the UFC middleweight championship in 2011.

UFC 122 is the first UFC event to take place in Germany since the promotion’s mainland European debut in Cologne last June.

“We are glad to be coming back to Germany with UFC 122 and to reward our loyal UFC fans in Germany. Both Vitor Belfort and Yushin Okami are one win away from a shot at the UFC middleweight title and are coming to Germany with a great deal to win and lose,” said UFC Managing Director of International Development Marshall Zelaznik.

Tickets went on sale to UFC Fight Club members on Monday with tickets on sale to the general public on Wednesday. As with UFC 99 in Cologne, you must be 18 or over to attend the event and identification will be checked at the area on fight night.



Belfort (19-8) is a former UFC light heavyweight champion working his way back into title contention, this time in the 185-pound division. He has reeled off five-straight victories, the last four being against UFC veterans Rich Franklin, Matt Lindland, Terry Martin, and James Zikic.



Belfort was already in line for a shot at Anderson Silva’s belt at UFC 112, but was sidelined due to a shoulder injury.



“I am here to regain my legacy as one of the best fighters in the world,” stated Belfort.



“I am looking for the knockout; I always look for the knockout. I know Okami is the type of guy who can bang a little and also has that judo style, but I am on a mission to be the UFC Champion once again.”

Okami (26-5) has long been lurking on the sidelines of a title shot. He holds a 9-2 record in the Octagon, but can’t seem to get over the hump and into a championship bout. He won four-straight before Rich Franklin halted his title aspirations and then bounced back for three successive wins prior to Chael Sonnen putting up a stopper. Okami has won his last two bouts, most recently over Mark Munoz, and again stands one step away from getting a crack at the top dog.



“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to fight a great like Vitor Belfort in the main event of a big card,” said Okami. “Vitor Belfort is still kind of my idol, so I am very excited. He will bring out the very best in me. Belfort is a great fighter, but I feel I have certain advantages I can use in the fight. I will shock MMA fans around the world with my performance.”
